Mare Cromwell is the Director of Sacred Dog Productions. She is a professional gardener, author and speaker. With a Masters in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan, she has worked in the environmental field for 31 years. Her environmental career has spanned both international and regional programs in the Mid-Atlantic. Upon returning to Maryland in 1995, she has conducted Sustainability workshops, coordinated the creation of the Gunpowder Watershed Alliance and was the Executive Director of the Prettyboy Watershed Alliance from 2003 to 2005. She has also consulted on non-profit management and fundraising with other organizations.

In 2002, Mare’s nationally recognized book, If I gave you God’s phone number…. Searching for Spirituality in America was published. The book was widely received and one reviewer commented: Reading this book will enrich your view of spiritual life--in all its radiant variety--forever.

In addition to her environmental and non-fiction work, Mare has studied for fifteen years with Native American teachers and has learned to infuse her life and work with a deeper sense of the Sacred inherent in all. She also occasionally speaks on eco-philosophy and eco-spirituality topics such as Environmental Hope, Living Simplicity, Deep Ecology, Right Relationship and Sacred Gardening. More and more often these days, she can sometimes be heard singing to plants…and tuning into their songs.
